We would all like to punish in some way the person that hurt us. This is not one of those situations where it is going to happen. If the person that hit you was insured, his insurance carrier takes over from there. It is possible that if he has enough accidents and receives enough tickets, his insurance premiums may go higher for awhile. If he is uninsured, you can probably see to it that his driver’s license is suspended until your damages are recouped. The bottom line is that most accidents are simply that—accidents as a result of inattention or speed. No matter what you do you probably won’t succeed in “teaching him a lesson.” People who are really bad drivers rarely acknowledge that they are and most likely will not learn from this collision.
